A historic farm by the sea with 900 metres of beachfront, north of Corumbau, said to be where the Portuguese first met Brazil’s indigenous people. It is 40 km from Porto Seguro along the coast and about 200 km by road, and features in Taschen’s book Living in Bahia.
The estate has an 80-year-old coconut grove, a landing strip for mid-sized aircraft, a marina, a 200-year-old house, a red-clay chapel, an organic garden, a beach house and a riverside house with terrace. Staff housing, a village of five houses, workshops, generators, a deep well and a windmill support the farm.
About 200 hectares are farmed (extendable to 250 to 300), with dairy and beef cattle and facilities for horses, and 150 hectares at the back are a permanent preservation area. Total built area is about 2,500 m². Nearby: Ponta do Corumbau and the Itacolomi reefs.
